Place a Casual Top-Knot
Let me first start off by saying you should never use the bands on the back of the bows to hold the fur-baby's hair in place. Grooming bands are available for this purpose. Below I have tried to outline how to place a casual top-knot.

1. Part the hair to be placed into topknot into two sections, (front & back) |

2. Place a band around the front section (Pink Band) and wrap two or three times. |

3. Place bow right above where the pink band is, only use one
(1) band that is attached to the back of the bow, wrap no more than twice, (this is for easy removal without damaging the bands on the bow or the bow itself), save the other attached band
on the bow for later use. |

4. Now pull the back section of hair forward to meet the front section. |

5. Wrap a second band (green band) around all the hair. The bow will now be in the center of two bands and this in turn should help in keeping the bow in place.
 - Be sure that you don't have your fur-babies hair pulled too tight as his/her eyes will have the "bad face lift" look going on and this could be irritating to your fur-baby.
- If you notice any discomfort or rubbing on the floor chances are you have the topknot too tight.

Remove A Dog Bow
from Top-Knot For easier removal of the bow, use a small pair of scissors to snip the bands that are holding the hair in place. This will
cause a lot less pulling and damage to the hair. ***(DO NOT SNIP THE HAIR OR BANDS ON THE BOWS)***

Train a Puppy to wear a Dog Bow!
Start at a very young age, even if your puppy doesn't have much hair, you
can still get her used to being groomed....
Consistency is the key...... Meaning everyday, even if you don't put a bow
in the hair, be sure to have a grooming session, (brushing, combing and so
on) be sure to use a command like "Let's fix your hair" at the start of
each and every session....Make a game out of it... and be sure to reward
after you're finished.....
When your puppy has just enough hair to put in a band, is a great time to
start her getting used to pulling her hair up (be sure to band the hair
each and everyday)... don't put the band in too tight.... You don't want
her to notice anything is up there.....
Next, when she is used to wearing a band, you may start to put bows in her
hair along with the band, start with the smallest bows possible, a 3/8"
single loop would be a good choice.... She will get used to the
weight of the bow in no time and you may make your way up in size of
bow... maybe a 5/8" single loop.... She will get used to it also.... so
now you have a puppy that will wear a bow with no problem.....
This technique will also work with an older dog that is not used to
wearing bows.... Patience is also a good thing..... Good luck and
happy bow shopping..... Teresa
